Paid Plasma Donation - Minds Made Up

Plasma Centers In Dayton OH - Cash For Plasma - Dying American Cities

We had a good turnout of support this past Tuesday at the city planning board meeting.

Still, though, the board members, with their minds already made up, voted up plans to put a plasma donation center at 850 North Main.

At the previous meeting, the board tabled the issue, noting that the public's concerns needed to be addressed.

We wanted to know how the applicant, CSL-Behring, was going to minimize the social effects. - Studies show that paid plasma centers concentrated drug activity, violence and theft in the communities where they do business.

We also wanted to know how this could ever work in with CitiPlan 20/20.

When city planner, Andrew Rodney gave his follow-up presentation this past Tuesday, he addressed our concerns... the way an old thinker would.

He proposed higher shrubs and 15 feet more of "green space." - what a pleasant sounding term.

The board members were smiling and nodding their heads the whole time, as if Mr. Rodney and CSL were offering solutions.

When it came time for public comment, the board chairman interrupted, badgered and inimidated anyone who spoke.

This lead to several withdrawals of requests to speak before the board.

This, combined with the city's rejecting our requests to submit video testimony, really helped quell public opinion... Well done, everyone.

No one within the administration nor on the board is standing up to his/her peers in the interest of improving our lives.

That would require struggle, and debate.

Instead, everyone is shutting up, in the interests of maintaiming the status quo, and making it home for dinner.

I'm not sure where this case goes next (possibly the city commission), but I'll keep you updated.

The attached picture is from this evening... An alarm at an adjacent business went off... Crime scene investigators had to shut down traffic on Miami Blvd... The proposed plasma center is the building behind the cop car.

Plasma Donation In Dayton - I live too far

Dayton Plasma Donation Centers - Plasma Centers And Crime - Poor City Leadership

We're gaining support!

North Main businesses... Other Neighborhood Organizations... Even workers from these facilities are with us.

Btw, the planning department is saying no-go on the video testimony... I bet we'll have that decision overridden in time for the meeting on Tuesday, November 16th, 4:30pm!

Thanks.

Sell Your Plasma - I ambushed my neighbor

Dayton Plasma Centers - Poor People - Plasma For Cash - Plasma And Crime

My landlord, Paul, kept delaying our interview, so I waited for him as he came home from work.

Apparently, he has an STD... Oh, and he never received all those letters the administrators say they sent him.

Comments welcome.

Please tell me about your experiences (good, bad or otherwise) with plasma donation.

If you're not from Dayton, tell me anyway... Maybe we'll come out to interview you.

Dayton Plasma Donation Centers - Why Always In Neglected Areas?

Dayton Plasma Donation - Plasma For Money - Plasma Centers And Crime

From the makers of "Shopping Cart In The River," we bring you "Couch On A Curb."

Well, this couch isn't even on a curb (there are two others nearby that are on curbs though)... It just seems to have been tossed off a truck into the lot just behind the proposed plasma donation business location.

The members of 4D have been experiencing a pattern of things being dumped on us.

Even the city administration is trying to dump stuff on us, because they have no other answer.

Dayton, Ohio Riverfront Development - Shopping Cart Still There!

Btw there's that shopping cart in the river... still.
It has been there since May!

Dayton City Officials... Get this thing out of there!

Here's what this tells me...

paid plasma donation social effects

Not one time since May has the mayor or a city administrator brought a potential investor (restaurant owner, bar owner, shop owner) to the river for a tour.

There haven't been any meetings down there to pitch an idea (city-to-investor, investor-to-city, I don't know) to bring life, excitement and money to the waterfront.

Not since May!

If anyone was really trying to present a new idea for that area, he/she would have gotten that thing out of there beforehand.

I mean, they're not even trying.

Are they out of ideas?

Obviously, if they've resorted to putting a plasma collection facility on North Main.

They didn't even try to find something better.

Plasma Donation Centers in Dayton - Here's the latest flyer I'm about to put on all of your porches!

Take a look at the latest flyer promoting the Planning Board Meeting on Tuesday, November 16th.

Remember, if you can't go, I'll still videotape your testimony.

Just email me.

Dayton Plasma Donation Centers - City Administrators By-Passing CitiPlan

Dayton Plasma Donation - Plasma Centers and Crime - Donation Centers - City of Dayton Zoning

Well, it's pretty clear that the City of Dayton Planning Department is abandoning CitiPlan Dayton.

It's not very forward-thinking, nor comprehensive, but it is a plan... and I'll give points for intent.

Even if CitiPlan is already outdated (ahem, age of the internet), and shallow, it does say this:

Why does the City of Dayton Need a Zoning Code?

The City needs a Zoning Code to:

􀂃 Implement the goals, objectives, and policies of the City’s Comprehensive
Plan, CitiPlan Dayton: The 20/20 Vision;

􀂃 Manage the use of land and future development in a legal manner; and,

􀂃 Protects citizens from incompatible land uses and other negative impacts
of development as well as provides citizens with more predictable results
regarding what might occur on neighboring property.

I love the last part!

I'm going to bring this up at the McPherson Town Historical Society Meeting tomorrow!

I learned today that the planning board meeting is set for Tuesday, November 16th at city hall.

I'll get flyers out right away.

Learning...

Hooray topic of land use.

I don't think we need these to expose bad policy, but zoning is somewhat interesting, believe it or not.

I'll have updated flyers going out all over the precinct tonight.

Dayton Plasma Donation - Hear From Precinct 4D

Dayton Plasma Centers - Plasma Centers and Crime - Paid Plasma Donation

Connect the dots (events) in our community, and you'll see that a paid plasma collection facility would not help our community... It might even harm the community.

I have been running around Precinct 4D with my camera, videotaping testimony to present to the Planning Board, as well as working on a short film... I'm thinking of calling it "The Plasma District."

Suggestions for a title are welcome.

Remember last week, I told you about the sick, neglected dog in the area?

Also, the video of the the two-year-old girl that was chasing the dog, got lost, and scared the heck out of her parents (and me)?

There was an accident this past weekend, and I spoke to my neighbor about it on camera.

It looks like this girl, who may or not be underdeveloped/disabled, went after that dog again, right around the same time.

The kid has the cards pretty well stacked against her... right from the beginning... at two years old.

So the city planning department wants to put this plasma collection facility right next to her house, never once considering the possibility for increased danger to the community?

It's an obvious case of money-before-people.

It's neglect.

It's your planning department, ladies and gentlemen.

Find any news article about how a plasma donation business affects a community, and you'll notice a pattern... robberies, muggings, stabbings, loitering.

Again, this little girl would be a sitting duck... She'd be in a news article.

Let's not play dumb to the elephant in the room.

I hope the planning board and city commission does the right thing by voting this down, and asking for a list of alternate locations.

Next Priority Board Meeting... Wed, Nov. 10th (see flyer)

Paid Plasma Donation Center - Top Administrators Unaware?

Dayton Plasma Donation - Dayton Plasma Centers - The Business Of Plasma

I've been out and about, spreading the word to Dayton Precinct 4D about the upcoming FROC Priority Board Meeting, and have been finding out some shocking stuff.

I can't help but feel city planners really had no grand plan for the expansion of downtown in the first place.

That's the only way to explain these plans to put a Plasma Donation Center at 850 North Main.

I've also found that a lot of top administrators and board members are not being informed about this.

I ask someone on the 6th floor whether the mayor knows about this... He shrugs, and says he's not sure.

Really?

I'm not totally familiar with how information is supposed to flow between boards and administrations, but shouldn't the top policy makers/shapers be told about this at the beginning of the application process?

I hope we can sort this out.

See you on Wednesday, November 10th, 6pm, 903 Fairview.

Plasma Collection Facility - Upcoming Meetings - Opinions/Stories Needed!

Plasma Centers And Crime - Plasma Donation - Paid Plasma Facilities

Good afternoon!

So we're planning to show up in LARGE numbers to upcoming Priority Board Meetings (next one is Wed, Nov. 10th @ 6pm!), Planning Board Meetings, and City Commission Meetings.

Here is the flyer I've been handing out.

Below is what the site, 850 North Main Street, looks like as of Tue102610, 12pm.

For weeks, they were chugging along with construction.

After the planning board meeting, everyone disappeared from that property.

Good sign, maybe?

Again... November 10th is the next FROC priority board meeting.

I look forward to seeing all my neighbors.

I'd love to see 100 people there.

On a final note to this weblog entry... Below is a picture of a shopping cart in the river.

It has been there all summer/fall and it's driving me bananas.

Plasma Collection Facility - More Reasons To Move It Somewhere Else

Money For Plasma - Plasma Donation - Plasma Donation and Crime

Greetings, board members, administrators, residents of Precinct 4D and web surfers who were looking for content about Paid Plasma Donation Businesses and their effects on communities.

First of all...

Here is a picture of a dog... obviously neglected.

emaciated dog

We're getting the dog help.

Now, here is a video I started shooting when I noticed a little girl at the end of my block, totally unsupervised, without an adult in sight.

I was washing dishes when I noticed her through my kitchen window.

Thought nothing at first.

I got through a few plates... looked up... She's still there.

Got through the silverware... looked up... Still there... Still no adults in sight.

At this point it's been close to 10 minutes.

I run out to try to talk to her, and find whoever is responsible for her.

She looks like she could be underdeveloped mentally, and doesn't speak at all.

I run back in to grab the phone (and camera)...

Still with me?

Here is my point.

Foot traffic is bound to increase through our area between the proposed plasma center location and downtown.

This kid would have been a sitting duck, if a potential abductor were coming through.

Blame bad parents, but don't let the kid pay the consequences.

Boards, panels and administrators must make decisions in order to keep their community safe.

Now, about the proposed Plasma Center.

The public safety issue can not be overlooked.

Send this issue back to the priority board, so a now-informed public can voice its collective opinion.

More to come.

Thanks for reading.

Plasma Collection Facilities are not moving... They're competing...

Dayton Plasma - The Business Of Plasma - Plasma Centers - Plasma and Crime

Hello again...

WDTN 2 News On Your Side is following the story about CSL Plasma's plan to bring a plasma collection facility to the Riverdale neighborhood at 850 N. Main Street.

plasma collection facility crime life

I loved the coverage and the interview with Ken Smiley of Ken's Kars, although I must point out that the plans are not to relocate a plasma center from Helena St... but to build a whole new facility.

In fact, a new facility in Riverdale would be competing with the other ones around town.

Plasma Collection is important.

Plasma donation is not just blood donation.

Plasma, when extracted from the blood, appears yellow.

It contains all kinds of proteins, nutrients and other good stuff used to make vaccines.

So it saves lives! (oh, and it is VERY lucrative... just booming... I mean a HUGE business)

But the other end is that they "reportedly" attract violence and drug activity, due to their locations, designs and disregard for the communities in which they do business.

I don't believe all reports, but I believe these.

What do you get when you place a bunch of desperate people (some of whom are drug addicts) in a small room and make them wait for three hours for money? - I don't know, but I know it's probably safer with medical professionals, nurses, staff and security everywhere.

CSL, Change the culture of these places, and you could change the plasma collection business!

I recall a planning board member saying that this could work if CSL Behring and the city can find a way to "integrate" the business into the community.

I totally agree, but look at the shack they have planned.

That's not going to integrate or improve the community.

How about a large facility, with huge waiting rooms, multiple stories and offices for other businesses.

If the idea were pitched that way, CSL Behring could get away with the permitted use exemption.

Instead, it appears the company wants to set up shop as quickly and as cheaply as possible in order to begin collecting plasma.

They are saving lives... at our expense...

Start the entire application process over, and involve the public.

More to come....

Nandy, out.

Plasma Donation Center... I just realized something

Crime Near Plasma Centers - Paid Plasma Donation - Plasma Community Issues

Here is what I realized about this blog-update-newsletter thing of ours.

No one in my neighborhood has easy access to the internet!

So what good does the blog do them? Hopefully lots, and here's why:

I am looking for input from professors, sociology experts and anyone who has something to say about paid plasma donation centers and their effects on communities.

Plasma Collection Facility To Be Built At 850 North Main Street

So I'm just looking to create a little noise to make sure this is done the right way.

Riverdale needs its say.

What about a giant facility with waiting rooms, elevators, tons of security.. something bigger and better that competes with the skyline, spur development of other healthcare businesses.

But if all we're getting is a plasma shack... the plans need to go somewhere else.

The above photo is from earlier this morning.

First Post About Plasma Center Plans...

Dayton Plasma Centers - Social Ills? - Sociology

Greetings.

I'm Ben Nandy, and I'm running for Priority Board.

My precinct is 4D.

The planning board is considering the design of a proposed plasma collection facility at 850 North Main Street, the former site of "Cream," "Rain" and other favorites.

Photobucket

We had a planning board meetings last night, brought some people, got some media, and the board tabled the meeting until a month from now.

I'm on the go today, and I'll be updating more, coming to your homes to interview you for our film, (someone give me an idea for a title!), and flyering the neighborhoods.

My new sidekick through-out all of this will be Talmadge... my 60-year-old, diabetic, possibly alcoholic, yet very peaceful neighbor who lives in a bed-bug infested basement apartment down the street from me.

He'll be running the camera when we do interviews, as well as flyering the neighborhoods!

I'll be back soon with more info....

Here's a picture of the site.
